The Importance of The Earth In Our Concerts

Our home is the Earth, and though we are often living and working with a virtual reality,
it is in no sense the real reality.

The Earth garden here in Florida is where the concerts are held and appreciated.

In coming to Sustainable Reality House Concerts,
you are learning about respect for all that is in nature.

Sofia Talvik from Lollapalooza and Sweden has a new CD called Florida

Sofia Talvik was the first ever Swedish female singer to play at the Lallapalooza festival.
She now has a CD entitled "Florida"
and she will be our show on
December 16, 2011
7:30pm

It’s not often that an album takes your breath away, and I hate to sound hyperbolic, but “Florida” actually has several “Oh my god!” moments of sheer beauty. Both joyful and melancholic, Sofia’s voice is the star, while perfectly twangy Nashville guitar backed by lush orchestrations, loping drums, and occasional electronic elements propel the songs along gently.
While not sounding exactly like any one artist, this album calls to mind everything from classic Nancy Sinatra to Belle & Sebastian to Rufus Wainwright. The references to the American south are plentiful and it’s fascinating to hear how the music of the region gets filtered through her Scandinavian sensibilities.
Finally and equally noteworthy is the stellar production of the album, which is done entirely by Sofia herself.
It’s a wonderfully effervescent album, and I know I’ll be listening to it a lot this summer. - Cd Baby Editor

Stephanie Rogers From Chicago Here in February.

You may have already seen Stephanie Rogers, appearing in TV shows like Saturday Night Live, films, commercials, theatre shows, or on the cover of one of her three CDs.  She comes to us from the HipChick Label in Chicago for a live acoustic music show in February.  Her three CDs:  'Not To Keep', 'Your New Life', and 'Daisy Petal in the Dirt', all feature her musical talents and songwriting skills.

Busy moms who need a relaxing evening with some live music will enjoy this show!
Buy tickets for two for a Valentine's Day gift!

"Stephanie writes wistful, stream of conciousness image-packed lyrics, that are held together by the engrossing pop craftsmanship of her songs. You'll see that her pitch-perfect voice is a powerful tool, but she knows when it's more effective as a whisper. There are elements of Sarah, or Tori here, but you'll also hear the Kinks and Joni reflected in the broad musical references. The first time I heard it I just enjoyed the music, she rocks, then she soothes, then she rocks again. It's a great headphone CD; I keep hearing new things, new thoughts, clever intonations. This CD has kept me ineterested and entertained through multiple listenings."

“After 18 years of listening to singer-songwriters in this business,

I can tell when someone stands out.
Barb Ryman is IT.”

Gorge Maida, WCVE Radio, Richmond VA

CD Falling Down To Heaven..."what an emotional, sweetly acoustic trip it is" David Kleiner, Minor7th.com

Pay Dirt and the Songwriting Tradition

Every songwriter has a place where if they get there, it will be pay dirt.
Usually it will be where the human condition, is perfectly intertwined
with the songwriters own personal truth.

When pay dirt is hit as a songwriter (the money will soon follow),
is where the audience says, "Yes, I get you."
Fans say 'yes' over and over, in support of the hit song.

In some way the hit song is the symbol of the performer (and the fan).
Though neither the songwriter or the fans realize all this consciously, for the most part.

These symbols of our selves are hard to find.  Songwriters look for them in the alleys, and clubs, on recordings, and through other performers.  Psychotherapists can't find them for the songwriter either.  Pay dirt is kind of like an intangible truth outside our conscious awareness, until it hits.  It is somehow born through the experience of live relationships to fans.

When we know it, we know it.

That is why performing live is so important to a songwriter.
They need to get to the pay dirt, and you as the listeners, are the ones to help.

Thank you for coming to the shows, and sharing your awareness of what you feel is the pay dirt for each of our performers.

Singer/Songwriter/12-String Acoustic Guitarist, Alex Kash

In the shifting consciousness between cultures, Alex Kash's heritage was born.
An explorer, writing of his travels, and marrying a new love on that foreign land.

Now a piece of Alaskan history,
mentioned in museums and books throughout the world,
Alex Kash's forebears gave to the Earth and sky a new way of thinking.

Now, generations later, a troubadour of the finest tradition,
Alex Kash tells the tale of change and love again,
scribed in the same fashion of an explorer into a new world.

History will record, as only it can, the generations of change that will follow.

The Relationship of Sound to Life

Each and every sound we hear
relates to our vibratory field.

The places that nourish our cells hear this.
The places that affect the movement of all things within us hear this.
And so on.

In listening to acoustic live music,
we are listening to the natural tones
and vibrations
as they are being made,
and at a pace and tone
that naturally affect us.

To hear something created with a love
for us directly,
and with a love for the music itself,
makes for an even more
positive experience.

If the musician can see you, and feel your vibration,
your involvement in the music,
and so on,
a vibratory exchange can happen
where your vibration
will also 'help' the music
and a vibratory 'field' will be set up,
which affects both the musician and the listener.

This wonderful vibratory 'field'
can only happen in a live setting
free from other non-acoustic sounds.

With the added natural vibratory energy
of the living garden setting,
there is an even larger 'field'
of energy involved,
and more positive feedback loop.
Which is all happening in a real time,
real energy, reality.

This is what it means to be human.

In support of this,
and other healing relationships
in music,
we bring you our series.

Laurie Jennings Oudin from Main Street Cafe Scene Here in November

The very talented, Laurie Jennings Oudin who was well known as the former proprietress of the Main Street Cafe, will be at our house concert in November.  The Main Street Cafe was the premier acoustic music venue in Florida.  Since the cafe's close in June 2006, Laurie has been devoting her time to her musical career with Dana Keller, a veteran pedal steel, dobro and guitar player, who has spent years performing on stage or in the studio with such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Stevie Wonder, Larry Graham, Marvin Gaye, Dave Mason, Johnny Rodriguez, and the Allen Brothers, to name a few.

A Message From Your Organizer

Sustainable Reality House Concerts
is a way for me to volunteer my time
to bring you the best musical experience
in a live nature setting.

I believe in music and the Earth,
and want to see the best happen to both.

I need your support to make this happen.
The ticket price you are paying goes to the artists,
unless they donate something to charity.
That allows artists that usually have to deal
with the market outside to get fair trade.

To make this sustainable though,
I will need your support of this series
and the space.
Please give me your support in
telling your friends about this series, and
respecting, and appreciating
the nature of
what we are doing here,
so we can continue to have the best shows possible!

Thank you for coming,
and enjoying this intimate evening with fine music!

Enjoying the Relationships Between Musicians

Enjoying the Relationships Between Musicians !

When we move through music with love,

feeling the various places we can take it,
there are enjoyment sparks that fly.
Changes, learning,
are happening
right here in this moment,
and it is exciting.

When we hear the depth of exchange
between musicians,
we are hearing something that can only be
taking place right here
and now
in this moment.

It is a joy, and excitement,
that only a live moment in music
can bring to listeners and players.
Also, and
in response to that,
the garden,
where it's all happening,
responds as well,
with the chirps of birds,
rustling of palm leaves,
or the slow tone-acious
movement of the moon.

We believe that musicians
performing, and
having a chance to be heard,
in our natural South Florida garden
is exquisitely important.

And we support that all we can.

What is a House Concert?

What is a House Concert?

A house concert is a concert in a home setting.

From the time of the traveling troubadours and before,
house concerts have always happened throughout history,
in a natural way to support musical artists
and their talent, message, and original works.

Some of the greatest musical artists of all time
have traveled the circuit of house concerts
as a way to be seen and heard for their musical genius,
and to pay their bills.

We gladly support that historical tradition,
and welcome relief from the burgeoning list
of distractions and impediments
to listening to and supporting
musical talent today.
It is our belief that great music
(and the great musicians who create these works of art)
deserve to be heard, respected and financially supported
in a fair trade atmosphere where the musician
sets the ticket price of the show.

In our house concerts, you have a chance to
experience music in a refreshing outdoor
and intimate environment,
where we share
a performance by a noteworthy musician.
It's a way to meet the performers
and get them to sign their CD.
A house concert is also a great social evening
where you can meet and network with others
truly interested in music and the arts.

In our love of music, friendship and community,
we share with you our shows.

Please check back with our blog, to keep updated
with our shows and news.
